The Emerald Chameleon
This is a tale based on the true experiences of the travels and adventures of an individual who came from a dysfunctional childhood upbringing of 1970’s London’s east side.
Escaping criminal activities and gang culture he joins the Royal Marines Commandos. An elitist military unit part of which is commonly referred to as special forces. Selection was easy in the main as it did nothing to compare to the almost daily violent beating encountered growing up with a frustrated Catholic Irish mother, trapped in a dead end relationship who used whatever implement at hand to dish out instant retribution for any behaviour considered rebellious or questioning.
Trapped and isolated within his own world and imagination, military life offers an escape route, the skills required to survive in this rigorous world come too easy and fit naturally his developing persona, to be used later carving a successful path through the murky under life of freelance professional soldiering.
Moving into the corridors of espionage its not long before various security services make use of these skills in a number of dubious black operations…All of which are remote and deniable from the paymasters who gave the orders for the good of queen and country.
Knowledge and information gleaned within this shadowed world if disclosed leaves the informant naked and vulnerable, the guise of Walter Mitty is often referred to as the truth is too unbelievable for most people to accept. The commercial opportunities of modern business have always paid well services that secure industrial secrets as too temporary heads of states too eager to realise their country’s funds re-deposited in private bank accounts.
From Mafia bosses and bankers, all the way up to the most regal of folk, actions, not questions has secured continued work for a most obedient and loyal servant. The pay is high and discretion expected…..
But then…who could you tell and who would believe you.
